I trust this will be an exciting and fun school year for your child. Last year was a challenging year for your child, having to adjust to a new school and schedule. I will be your child's math teacher for this year and I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child. As I told them in the first day of class, we will work hard in class and they will be challenged to be pushed beyond their their own capabilities. My goal as their teacher is not just to have them understand and apply their math skills, but for them to become problem solvers and critical thinkers. My expectations of my students are simple. Come prepared every day to give your best effort and if you can answer yes to that question, you will be successful. Although grades are important, I realize that every student is not an "A" student in math. Having raised three children, I realize that they all have strengths in different areas. Being a successful math student is not measured solely in a grade, but rather in an attitude and work ethic.
Your child will feel safe and comfortable in my classroom, wanting to take risks, and having a positive attitude on learning.
I look forward to a rewarding and exciting school year. I look forward to seeing all of you on "Back to School night" on Tuesday September 19th.
Regards,
Ed Leckner
