The Design Loop is a series of steps used to solve a problem in an efficient manner.

For any 6th grade STEAM design challenges, we will be using all of the steps of the Design Loop in order to create the best possible solutions.

Here is an explanation of what each step means...

    1. Identifying the Problem: Getting a thorough understanding of what the problem statement and design specifications are asking you to do for the challenge.

    2. Investigation and Research: Learning information that will help you in designing and building the solution.

    3. Brainstorming: Coming up with multiple solutions to the challenge.

    4. Choosing a Solution: Picking a solution to move forward with for the challenge.

    5. Developmental Work: Creating a detailed plan for building the solution.

    6. Prototyping: Building the solution.

    7. Testing and Evaluation: Testing the solution to see if it meets the problem statement and design specifications of the challenge.

    8. Redesign: Identifying things that worked well and things that could have been done better if you were making a new and improved solution to this challenge. This step is what makes this series a loop...because in the end you are back at the beginning to make the next version of the design!
