The end of the year is busy with a lot of exciting events going on!
In reading, we have begun working in series books! The children will read in book clubs. They will notice character traits, and patterns across a series, such as setting, problems, solutions, etc. They also will notice when characters act differently than expected.Then, they will compare character behaviors across books in a series!
In writing, we have begun Writing About Reading. We began this unit last month by learning the letter format; then writing friendly letters, thank you letters, and finally opinion letters, such as best pet and best place to visit or take a vacation. Next, In this unit children will write letters about a character they love. They will learn to expand these letters by adding their opinions about favorite parts, pictures, the title, or by retelling a part of the book that helps the reader understand their opinion.
The final reading and writing unit will be independent projects.
Our final math unit will be Unit 6, Geometry
In science, we have begun our final science unit, Living Things. In this unit we will grow plants, discover the pollination process and the role of the bee.
